There are many instances from the ahadith where the Prophet ﷺ was reported to have worn a cotton Yemenite Shawl. One hadith specifically describes the Prophet sal Allahu 'alayhi wasallam as wearing a red stripy Yemeni Shawl.
Just to quote a few of these ahadith:
Sayyidina Anas radiy Allahu anhu narrates that the merciful Prophet ﷺ in his last days before the departure from this world was supported by Sayyidina Usamah radiy Allahu anhu walking out of his sacred house covered with a Yemeni shawl. [Sharh us Sunnah, V6, P160, Dar-ul-Kutubul Ilmiyyah, Beirut]
Anas radiy Allahu ‘anhu narrates that from all the different types of clothing, Rasulullah ﷺ liked a Yemeni shawl the most. It was of several colours. [i.e. stripy]
Sayyidina Anas bin Malik radiy Allahu ‘anhu narrates that The Messenger of Allah ﷺ out of all shawls preferred to cover himself with a 'Habirah' shawl (a cotton edged Yemeni shawl). [Sunan at-Tirmidhi]
Bara bin 'Azib Radi Allahu 'Anhu relates that: "Rasulullah ﷺ was a man of medium build, he had broad shoulders (from which we may gather that he had a wide chest); he had dense hair which reached his ear-lobes; he wore a red striped shawl. never saw anybody or anything more handsome than him" [Shama'il at-Tirmidhi]
The Yemeni shawl also has been reported to have been the bridal gift between Sayyidina Ali Ibn Abi Talib and Sayyidah Fatimah (May Allah be pleased with them both).
