Shaykh Shihab al-Din Ahmad al-Sajai (d. 1197 AH / 1783 CE) was an Egyptian Shafii grammarian and scholar of al-Azhar, prolific author of commentaries on classical Arabic linguistic and devotional matns. Beyond this hashiya, his commentary on Zarruq's Wazifa Zarruqiyya is also widely used in Egyptian Shadhili circles.

الشيخ شهاب الدين أحمد السجاعي (ت ١١٩٧ هـ) فقيه شافعي ونحوي أزهري مصري، صاحبُ الشروح على المتون العربية والدعوية الكلاسيكية. له بالإضافة إلى هذه الحاشية شرحٌ على الوظيفة الزرّوقيّة، يُسْتعمَل في الحلقات الشاذلية المصرية.

al-Sajai: Shaykh Shihab al-Din Ahmad al-Sajai rahimahullah (d. 1197 AH / 1783 CE) was an Egyptian Shafi'i grammarian and scholar of al-Azhar, known for his prolific output of commentaries on the classical Arabic linguistic and devotional canon. His principal work is a hashiya in five volumes on Ibn Aqil's commentary on the Alfiyya of Ibn Malik - the three texts together (the Alfiyya, Ibn Aqil's commentary, and al-Sajai's supercommentary) forming one of the most widely used stacks in advanced Arabic grammatical study. Beyond this major hashiya, he composed a commentary on the Wazifa Zarruqiyya of Imam Ahmad Zarruq, which continues to be used in Egyptian Shadhili devotional circles. His work exemplifies the tradition of Azhari scholarly production in the twelfth century AH, bridging the linguistic sciences with devotional literature.

Bilal Muhammad Hatem al-Sakka: Bilal Muhammad Hatem al-Sakka is a contemporary muhaqqiq, a scholarly editor whose task is to establish, annotate, and prepare classical Arabic and Islamic manuscripts for modern publication. He is associated chiefly with Dar al-Taqwa in Damascus, and his editions have appeared in recent years across several distributors of traditional Islamic books. His editorial output spans a notably broad range of the classical disciplines. In Sufism he has edited ʿAwarif al-Maʿarif, the influential handbook of the spiritual path by Shihab al-Din al-Suhrawardi. He has given particular attention to the devotional poetry tradition surrounding the Burda of al-Busiri, preparing two of its major commentaries, Mashariq al-Anwar al-Mudiyya and the three-volume Izhar Sidq al-Mawadda fi Sharh al-Burda. In the Arabic language sciences he edited the Hashiya of al-Sujaʿi on Ibn ʿAqil's commentary on the Alfiyya, a standard work of grammar. In hadith and fatwa literature he prepared al-Fatawa al-Hadithiyya of Ibn Hajar al-Haytami.
