About The Author

Shaykh Ahmad b. Muhammad Ibn Ajiba al-Hasani (1161-1224 AH / 1748-1809 CE) was a Moroccan Sharifi scholar and Darqawi-Shadhili Sufi master from Tetouan. Initially trained as a jurist and grammarian, he was drawn into the Shadhili-Darqawi line through Shaykh Muhammad al-Buzidi. Beyond Iqaz al-Himam, his major works include al-Bahr al-Madid (a Sufi tafsir of the Quran) and his celebrated autobiography al-Fahrasa.

"إيقاظ الهمم في شرح الحكم" شرحُ الشيخ أحمد بن عجيبة المَطْوَل على حكم ابن عطاء الله السكندري — يُعَدُّ عند تَقْليد الشاذلية المغربية المصرية أيسرَ الشروح الكبرى على المتن وأَغْذاها روحياً. حيث تختصر الحكمُ قروناً من الخبرة الباطنة في ٢٦٤ حكمة موجزة، يَفْتح ابنُ عجيبة كلَّ حكمةٍ بصبر، يكشف فرضيّاتها العقدية، وأصولها النصّية، وآثارها العملية على السالك.

الشيخ أحمد بن محمد ابن عجيبة الحسني (١١٦١-١٢٢٤ هـ) عالم شريف مغربي وقطب من أقطاب الطريقة الشاذلية الدرقاوية من تطوان. تَفَقَّه في النحو والفقه ثم سَلَك على يدي الشيخ محمد البوزيدي. له بالإضافة إلى الإيقاظ تفسير القرآن "البحر المديد"، وسيرتُه الذاتية الشهيرة "الفهرسة".

Ibn Ajiba al-Hasani: Shaykh Ahmad b. Muhammad Ibn Ajiba al-Hasani rahimahullah (1160-1224 AH / 1747-1809 CE) was a Moroccan Sharifi scholar and master of the Darqawi-Shadhili Sufi path from Tetouan. Initially formed in jurisprudence and the Arabic grammatical sciences, he was drawn into the Shadhili-Darqawi spiritual lineage through Shaykh Muhammad al-Buzidi. His major works span multiple disciplines: Iqaz al-Himam fi Sharh al-Hikam is his expansive commentary on the Hikam of Ibn Ata Allah al-Iskandari - recognized within the Moroccan-Egyptian Shadhili tradition as the most accessible and spiritually nourishing of the major commentaries on that text. Al-Bahr al-Madid is his multi-volume Sufi tafsir of the Qur'an. His autobiography al-Fahrasa documents his spiritual formation and is itself a classical work of its genre. Together these works establish him as one of the central figures of eighteenth and nineteenth century Maghribi Sufism.
