About the author

Kim Nisha Baten: Kim Nisha Baten was born in Canada and has spent the greater part of her life in Maryland. Raised under another religion, she found the tranquility and beauty of Islam after marrying into the faith - an experience that shaped her desire to share that journey with others. By profession she is a pediatrician, and she is also a mother of four and an active volunteer in her children's schools. Her children's book Nadia Hears the Shahada is her literary debut and reflects her heartfelt ambition: to educate and inspire both young readers and adults, including those new to Islam and those seeking to learn about the faith, through clear and accessible storytelling.

About the illustrator

Marisa Lu: Marisa Lu is an award-winning illustrator and designer whose fine art background informs a wide-ranging creative practice. She has applied her skills to rapid prototyping and visualizing for design projects, research in the field of speech-driven animated books, and illustration commissions. A self-described fanatic doodler from childhood who once dreamed of becoming a concept artist, she has developed a career that spans both the commercial design and illustration worlds. Her illustration for Nadia Hears the Shahada represents her work in the Islamic children's book space.
