About Author:
Rae Norridge was born in South Africa and from an early age became interested in wildlife.
After matriculating she studied commercial art, but soon moved on to study fine art through the Johannesburg Art Foundation. An interest and love of wildlife became a driving force in her art. Her visits to game reserves and contacts with the environment became more and more frequent. An intimate knowledge and love of birds, and the habitat in which they live, is clearly evident in her paintings. The atmosphere of the habitat in which the wildlife survives is depicted in her approach to painting, which also shows an intimate knowledge of the subject matter she chooses.
Now living in England, Rae still gets back to the bushvelt regions of Southern Africa, and Australia at least once a year to recapture the unique atmosphere these environments deliver. Her travels around the United Kingdom has given her new inspiration. These visits stimulate her artistic talents and produce new subject matter for her works.
Rae has had many one man exhibitions, and several group exhibitions, in South Africa and in the United Kingdom. She is listed in Esme Berman’s Book of Art and Artists of Southern Africa.
Rae has also had eight children’s books published, each having an African wildlife theme. These books are distributed worldwide.
